Viga HA Desk — MDD

Design & Concept

Part of MDD’s Viga collection (designed by Yonoh Studio), the Viga series emphasizes clean industrial lines tempered with warm natural materials. The “HA” variant introduces height adjustability, allowing the desk to shift between sitting and standing positions — reflecting modern ergonomic needs.
It’s designed for executive offices, open-plan workspaces, and home offices where flexibility, material quality, and visual calm are important.

Materials & Finish Options

Worktop / Surface:
• Standard Viga HA uses a ~ 30 mm top in veneer or HPL (high performance laminate).
• There’s also a “Viga M” version where the top is ~ 28 mm thick using MFC (melamine board) with ABS edges.
Leg / Frame:
• Legs are wood profiles (~ 80×40 mm) for warmth and strength.

• Support is via an extruded aluminium beam/frame under the top, typically coloured in black anodised or matched finish; a ~ 30 mm spacer between top and frame gives a floating effect.

Options & Accessories:
• Mediabox / top access modules: sockets, USB, HDMI etc for integrating tech.

• Cable trays, grommets, modesty panels, storage cabinets or pedestals can be added.

Height-Adjustable (HA) Specifics

The HA version offers an electric height-adjustable frame allowing the desktop height to be adjusted (sit/stand).
Drive system: twin motors, soft start-stop; safety features include load protection and overheat protection.
Height range (for HA variant) spans from approximately ~ 740 mm to ~ 1270 mm depending on configuration.

Dimensions & Variants

Standard fixed-height Viga models: widths commonly in 1600-2000 mm, depths 800 or 1000 mm, height ~ 740 mm.
HA variants and executive/storage versions have similar widths and depths, with height adjustable to ~ 1270 mm.
When including a storage cabinet / managerial pedestal, additional widths & depths are available.

Aesthetic & Experience

The floating effect (from spacer under top, visible aluminium frame) gives the desk a sense of lightness.
Natural-wood or veneer surfaces provide warmth; contrast with matte laminates (like Fenix) or darker finishes gives clean, contemporary elegance.
The design aims at minimal visual clutter: concealed cable routing, optional accessories integrated cleanly.
Strengths & Considerations

Strengths:

Excellent ergonomic flexibility with electric height adjustment.
High material quality and strong craftsmanship (wood, veneer, aluminium).
Good choice of customization (finish, tech integration, storage).

Considerations:

Electrified versions will need power access and may involve higher cost.
Larger or heavier configurations (storage / large tops) require sturdy flooring / careful support.
Maintenance of veneer / wood surfaces requires care (humidity, protection from moisture or scratching).
