Viga Desk — MDD
Design & Concept
Viga is part of MDD’s modern operative & executive desk collection, designed to balance refined simplicity with high functionality. The concept emphasizes minimalism, clean lines, versatility, and modularity. The desk works equally well in executive / managerial offices as in open-plan workspaces or home office settings. It aims to offer a high-quality working environment with adaptability for various user needs.
Materials & Finishes
Worktop / Table Top: The standard Viga version offers a 30 mm thick top in veneer or high-performance laminate (HPL) finishes. There is also a “Viga M” version which uses MFC (melamine faced chipboard) at around 28 mm, with ABS edging.
Frame & Legs: Legs are wood (profile approx. 80×40 mm), and the supporting frame is made of anodized aluminium in black, giving a refined but robust structural base. There’s a spacer of ~30 mm between the top and the frame that helps create a floating effect.
Modesty Panel / Handles: Modesty panel is available (veneer finish) ~13 mm thick; handles are powder-coated steel, usually black. In the Viga M version, modesty panels are 12 mm MFC.
Functional Features
Custom Sizes & Configurations: Many top sizes (widths / depths) to choose from to fit different spaces; supports for single-station desks, bench arrangements, executive desks, and versions with pedestals or storage.
Accessory Options: Cable trays, grommets, “mediaboxes” for power/USB/HDMI sockets, etc., are available to keep workstation tidy and tech-friendly.
Executive & Storage Add-ons: For executive versions, there are options for side or main pedestals / cabinets (storage) and modesty panels to enhance both aesthetics and function.
Dimensions & Variants
Standard desk working height is ~ 740 mm.
Desk widths commonly 1600, 1800, 2000 mm; depths 800 or 1000 mm. Executive or storage-enabled versions can be deeper / larger.
There is also a height-adjustable version: electric frame allowing desk height from approx 760 mm up to 1270 mm (sit-stand mode).
Sustainability & Standards
The frame / aluminium components make use of recycled materials.
Certifications include FSC / PEFC for wood, European norms (e.g. PN-EN 527-2:2017 etc.) for desk constructions.
Aesthetic & Brand Positioning
Aesthetically, Viga combines industrial character (aluminum beam, exposed structural elegance) with warmth from natural wood veneers or rich laminate finishes. The design intentionally avoids visual heaviness: clean structure, minimal decoration.
It seeks to present a modern, professional image: suited for executives, managers, or environments where design coherence, material quality, and user comfort matter. Good match where multiple desks need to harmonize (open plan, shared spaces) or where accessories / ancillary components are used (storage, pedestals, media accessories).
