LaMesa Desk — JMM
Design & Concept
LaMesa is a sculptural executive desk that marries functionality with refined elegance. Designed by José Martínez Medina for JMM, it blends strong, linear architecture with subtle detailing to both define a workspace and elevate its ambience. The design emphasizes clean lines, generous proportions, an integrated storage element, and a tactile working surface — all while handling modern demands like cable management and materiality with style.
Materials & Finishes
Top surface: Available in American walnut veneer or a smooth matt lacquer finish.
Overtop (working surface pad): Upholstered in Tech-Leather (a technical leather) for comfort and refined look.
Side storage / container: American walnut finish (matching or complementing the top), accessible from both front and back — helpful for cable management and keeping essentials nearby yet tidy.
Front panel / structural board: Finished in matte lacquer, creating contrast and providing an elegant, clean front look.
Base / legs & metal components: Steel plate base in a black-nickel or “black mirror”-colored finish gives a strong foundation and sleek visual weight.
Dimensions & Variants
Standard size: about 240 × 95 × 75 cm (L × D × H)
XXL / larger variant available: substantially wider and deeper for larger offices or open spaces.
Functional Features
Integrated side storage / container accessible from both front and back, simplifying cable routing and giving flexibility in how one sits or works around the desk.
Working pad overtop provides comfort and refined touch under hands / arms, helps desk tools and laptop rest without scratching wood.
Aesthetic balance is carefully considered: the contrast of warm wood grain, matt lacquer, and dark metallic base yields a desk that is both bold and harmonious in upscale workspaces.
Craftsmanship & Standards
The wood panels are made using medium‐density fibreboard (MDF / DM) of different thicknesses, low formaldehyde content (E1 standard) for healthier indoor air.
The metal structure and hardware conform to European standards (DIN / UNE) for durability and precision.
Upholstery in technical leather (“Piel-Tech / Tech-Leather”), microfibred, complying with environmental / safety regulations (e.g. REACH).
