Ettore Grand Bureau Desk — Bugatti Home (Carlo Colombo)
Design & Concept
A modern reinterpretation of the classic executive desk, the Ettore Grand Bureau desk combines tradition and cutting-edge materials. The structure leverages high-performance carbon fiber to make bold, avant-garde forms that are still refined and polished.
Designed by the renowned architect Carlo Colombo, it articulates luxury in structure: the top in carbon fibre extends from the cabinet portion and then slopes or transitions into the supporting base, creating a fluid, sculptural silhouette.
Materials & Finishes
Structure / Frame: Carbon fibre reinforced polymers, dyed Blue Royale, with a brushed-gloss finish. The carbon component forms the desk’s top edge insert, supporting structure, and front aesthetic — showing performance materials visibly.
Surface / Top: The desktop is covered in non-removable leather (except printed leather options). There’s also a top inlay in carbon fibre (Blue Royale) with matching finish.
Board / Box / Cabinet Parts: The “board” (cabinet portion) is built of wood covered in coordinating leather (excluding printed leathers), with interior parts (drawers/shelves) in matte lacquered wood and microfibre linings. Shelves are in matt lacquered wood matching the colour palette. Drawers and doors are leather-covered wood.
Form & Features
Includes a cabinet section (often called “board”) with doors and drawers, some of which are technical compartments (for cable/electrical, storage).
Shelves within the cabinet are movable / relocatable on either guest side or technical side to suit layout.
Integrated cable outlet / passage: one side has a hole in the cabinet, the opposite side has a cable outlet built into the base or foot of the desk.
Optional accessories include a wireless charging station for smartphones, and a storage tray (covered in microfibre) placed in the upper cabinet drawer. Drawers and doors may use electromagnetic opening/closing, optionally programmable with a timer.
Dimensions & Scale
Very large and commanding in size: 326 × 240 × 74 cm (W × D × H).
Height of around 74 cm (standard desk height) makes it functional while retaining a strong presence.
Aesthetic Experience & Positioning
Visually, this desk is a statement: the use of carbon fibre, leather, large surface, and the contrast between the flowing carbon top and the grounded cabinet base combine to speak of prestige, craftsmanship and high-design engineering.
It’s designed for executive or leadership spaces where the desk will be a focal point — in boardrooms, CEO offices, or high-end private workspaces. It pairs well with luxury interiors — high ceilings, strong lighting, complementary materials (stone, leather, wood).
The use of “performance” materials (carbon, leather) also ties into Bugatti’s automotive heritage, so it resonates with brand values around speed, precision, engineering, and luxury.
